This role within Macquarie's Finance Division. You will be responsible for the Financial and Regulatory Reporting of Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc.

The Finance Division supports Macquarie's operating areas by providing financial control, financial planning, capital management, management reporting and budgeting and divisional accounting services. The Division is located in nearly all locations where Macquarie has operations. The Division is structured along business lines with a dedicated team co-located with, and providing support to, each operating area.

This is a challenging, valued and visible role within Macquarie's Finance Division. You will be responsible for the Financial and Regulatory Reporting of Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc.

Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc is a fast growing US Broker Dealer with ~450 staff conducting Corporate Advisory, Bond Broking, Equity Linked Notes, Institutional Stockbroking, Research and Stock Lending activities.

Reports to Controller for the Broker Dealer

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Regulatory Reporting
    • Preparation of all regulatory reports including 15c3-1, 15c3-3, Reg S and FOCUS filings
    • Daily monitoring of regulatory capital usage by each business unit in the Broker Dealer and allocation of limits to ensure there are no regulatory capital breaches
    • Assisting in FINRA examinations and responding to queries from regulatory bodies with respect to the Broker Dealer
  • Financial Reporting
    • Liaising with business unit accounting teams in Sydney and New York to maintain US GAAP books for the Broker Dealer and reconcile to IFRS books adopted at the Macquarie Group level
    • Responsible for month end close for the Broker Dealer including the preparation or review of balance sheet reconciliations
    • Liaison on external audits and internal audit
  • Ad hoc
    • Liaising with business, Operations and IT to improve data integrity for financial reporting and regulatory reporting
    • Research financial accounting and regulatory treatment of new products and business in the broker dealer
    • Participate in projects that improve controls, processes and system enhancements for the broker dealer

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 5+ years accounting experience in financial services with an international organisation or top professional firm
  • Series 27 license holder
  • Strong experience in US GAAP and Broker Dealer regulatory reporting. IFRS knowledge would also be an advantage
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory and operational risk framework required in a Broker Dealer
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
