My client is a Hedgefund that is headquartered in Chicago. They are currently trading equity futures and fixed income futures. They have also been trading energy from their London office and it is this desk that they are looking to expand.

My client trades a variety of products using quantitative, systematic models. These models are developed and traded across a variety of markets and they are currently looking to take on a trader who has had experience running such models ideally within energy. The successful candidate will be expected not only to run the models but also to make improvements to them – working very closely with the Head of energy who sits in Chicago. Essentially the responsibilities of the role will include

• Execution of trades using automated algorithms

• Making improvements and adjustments to the trading strategies as required

• Conducting research on information relevant to trading Energy markets

The fund has an extremely strong emphasis on team work and team fit. They believe that such an environment allows ideas to be shared, discussed, expanded and as such the best strategies and models can be built. Although a candidate with experience working within the energy marklets would be preferred – the skill set is more important than the product knowledge. The candidate must have extremely good communication skills and have previous experience running models. They will be working within a team – however at times will have to work fairly autonomously and must be able to make important decision when required to do so.
