A leading GCC bank is looking for a senior level banker to head up its Islamic Financial Services team based in London.

This team is responsible for structuring and selling (to other financial institutions) a range of Sharia’h compliant investment and retail banking products.  The investment products are predominantly focused on the areas of:

• Real estate,
• Equity finance,
• Trade finance; and
• Equipment finance. 

An in-depth knowledge of structuring these types of financings is therefore essential. The retail products are predominantly mortgage based products, prior experience of this based this is not essential.

You will be a senior level banker with prior experience of running a team of substantial size (10+), of originating business of behalf of that team and with the gravitas to come in and manage a group of senior level and experienced individuals.

You will have spent a substantial period of time working at a senior level in a high quality financial institution, which should include some substantial time spent working in a bank.

You will have knowledge of Islamic banking concepts and structures.

You will have knowledge of the MENA (especially GCC) region and a proven track record in originating business in this region in the areas described above.

Proficiency in Arabic or French would be a plus, but is not essential.

The successful candidate will have the gravitas to lead and develop the Islamic Financial Services business. They will be representing the bank by taking a leading role in generating new business streams and marketing new and existing products and services, in conjunction with working at the highest levels on strategy and policy as part of the senior management.
